Majlis MLAs not to resign: Asaduddin

As the resignation spree for Telangana gains momentum among public representatives, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen refuses to follow suit. The party legislators would not quit and complete their full term.
“There is no question of our MLAs resigning. Moreover, separate Telangana or unified Andhra was never our electoral agenda”, said Majlis president, Asaduddin Owaisi. Whether it was the elections in 2004 and 2009 or the GHMC polls, the Majlis did not go to the people seeking votes in the name of Telangana or unified Andhra.
Uplift of minorities, Dalits and Backward Classes was its core agenda always. “Therefore, we are not morally bound to resign. Those who sought votes in the name of Telangana are answerable to the people,” the Hyderabad MP said.
The Majlis, he feels, represents the hopes and aspirations of minorities in the entire State although its legislators are elected from Hyderabad.
The Majlis legislators are therefore bound to serve the people for the full-term.
“If there is a constitutional breakdown leading to election in the State, we are ready to face it,” Mr. Asaduddin remarked.
He wonders why only seven Muslim MLAs are elected and that too from Hyderabad when there are 119 Assembly seats in Telangana region.
And how could the other parts of the State send only three Muslim legislators and not a single MP.
“What kind of pluralism and diversity we are practicing,” he asked.
His party stand, Mr. Asaduddin said, was very clear on the Telangana issue. It is for a united Andhra and if bifurcation of the State becomes inevitable then Hyderabad should be the capital of Telangana along with Rayalaseema.
The real issue, he said, was sharing of the river waters. What would happen to Nagarjunasagar, Pulichintala and other irrigation projects.
The Krishna Water Tribunal had reduced water allocation for the State and there were problems with Maharashtra and Karnataka on this front.
Debt
Moreover, the State had a huge debt of Rs. 1,30,000 crore and there was no clarity on how it would be divided among the two regions.
“But nobody is talking about all this and only raising the bogey of Hyderabad,” the Majlis leader deplored.

Telangana Congress leaders to begin strike tomorrow

Telangana_Congress3After their bulk resignations in support of a separate state, Telangana Congress leaders will begin a two-day hunger strike tomorrow.
“We have decided to observe a 48-hour fast on July 13 and 14 to draw the attention of the government,” Congress MP K Keshav Rao told reporters after a meeting of the Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs who had recently quit their posts.
All those who have resigned from their posts would take part in the fast, he said.
As many as 100 MLAs and 15 MPs cutting across party lines have quit their posts this month in support of the separate statehood demand.
Mr Rao dismissed reports that Telangana leaders from the Congress will leave the party over the Centre’s lack of action on a new state.
“Our loyalty to Congress and Sonia Gandhiji is unflinching. Our demand for Telangana is equally uncompromising,” Mr Rao said.
He said that the Telangana Congress leaders are ready to talk to their counterparts from non-Telangana regions about their objection to demand for a new state.

Amarnath_Cave
The Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of pilgrims each year. And while the pilgrims progress braving inclement weather, the carbon footprints of the yatris are hard to miss.
The crystal clear snow near the holy Amarnath Cave has lost its pristine self, just a week into the annual pilgrimage.
Living in thousands of tents pitched along the glaciers, yatris go about carelessly littering, even using the river as a sewage and garbage drain. They completely ignore warnings.
“There is no need for toilets. The river is serves all purposes. We use it for washing and bathing,” said Ashish, a pilgrim.
As if the inflow of sewage and garbage was not enough, people blatantly violate the rules. They come here and wash their vehicles.
“All the people wash their vehicles here,” said Kamal Sharma, a taxi driver.
Over one lakh pilgrims have visited this week alone and the stress on the fragile Lidder Valley is already showing.
And that’s not all. The colour of a glacier, which is on the route taken by the yatris, has now turned black.
“People are moving on foot in thousands. So there is a generation of dust that ultimately settles on these glaciers and enhances the melting of these glaciers,” said Shakeel Ramshoo, a Glaciologist at the Kashmir University.
Since the early 90s the pilgrim rush to the holy Amarnath shrine has increased 40 times. But the enforcement of rules does not match this rush.
Nor do pilgrims who read about global warming and ecological damage

TN temple jewels with Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple???

pad_1.jpg.crop_displayThe treasure unearthed from the Padmanabhaswamy temple at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala triggered a claim that a part of the treasure belongs to the Adikesava Perumal temple of Thiruvattar in Kanyakumari district.
Adikesava Perumal of Thiruvattar was the prime deity of the Travancore kings before they shifted their capital to Thiruvananthapuram from Padmanabhapuram in Kanyakumari district.
According to Mr Radhakrishnan, an advocate who has raked up the issue, the kings would not have completely forsaken their prime deity, Adikesava Perumal and donated all the treasure to the Padmanabhaswamy temple that was built later.
“Had the kings wanted to give more importance to the Padmanabha Swamy temple they would have created a much bigger idol of Padmanabhaswamy lying on the snake,” the advocate said.
The idol at the Thiruvananthapuram temple is 18-ft long, against the 22-ft statue of Adikesava Perumal, which is the longest statue of the Lord lying on a snake couch among the 108 Divya Desams, the holy sites of Vaishnavites, he said.
The section which supports this claim contends that the treasure from the Thurivattur temple might have been saved in the Thiruvananthapuram temple vaults to protect it from invaders like the Dutch and the Arcot Nawab.
“As the Thiruvattar temple has rivers (Thamirabarani, Kothaiyar and Pahrali) on three sides, construction of underground chambers at the temple would not have been possible and hence the jewels of Adikesava Perumal, believed to be the elder brother of Padmanabhaswamy, would have been saved at the temple vaults in Thiruvananthapuram,” said Mr Radhakrishnan.
Mr Rajasekaran, a devotee of the Thiruvattar Sri Adikesava Perumal, said that King Marthanda Varma — during whose period the capital of the Travancore kingdom was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram from Padmanabhapuram — in a “thali olai grantham” (writings in a palm leaf) had stated that the treasure in the vaults of Padmanabhaswamy temple should be used in times of famine in the country.
“It is very clear that the Travancore kings had saved the treasure at Padmanabhaswamy temple not only for religious purposes but also for the welfare of the Travancore state of which Kanyakumari district was a part,” Mr Rajasekaran was quoted as saying.
However the chairman of the Sri Adikesava Perumal Seva Trust, Mr C. Anantha Krishnan, disagrees with the claims, stating that nowhere in the history of the Travancore dynasty has it been stated that the kings had saved the jewels of Adikesava Perumal temple at Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr Anantha Krishnan, however, demanded the immediate retrieval of the jewels stolen from the Adikesava Perumal temple in 1991 and in 1994.
“The cases are pending at the courts at Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district and at the Thrissur court in Kerala and hence the recovered jewels of the temple are still in the courts’ custody,” Mr Anantha Krishnan said.

AP in tense regarding Telangana

It is agitations galore in Andhra Pradesh with protests for and against the bifurcation of the state gaining momentum. While the agitation by pro-Telangana elements was marked by violence mainly in the Osmania University campus here, the unified state protagonists launched a bus yatra from Visakhapatnam to drum up people’s support for their cause. Pro-Telangana elements in the garb of students attacked police and security personnel deployed on the OU campus with stones. Police denied permission for a mass hunger-strike by the separatists inside the OU but a group of students sat on fast demanding that the Government of India immediately revoke the 14(F) clause of the Presidential Order governing government appointments. The separatists also tried to take out a rally to the Raj Bhavan but police foiled the attempt as prohibitory orders under different sections of law were in force in the state capital. A few Telangana legislators, who resigned from their posts demanding creation of a separate state, were arrested by police outside the Assembly when they sought to visit the OU expressing solidarity with the agitating separatists. City Commissioner of Police A K Khan told newsmen today that the situation was “under control and peaceful” in Osmania University. “We have no objection to students carrying out any agitation in a peaceful manner. But, only students and staff of the University alone will be allowed into the campus as per the Supreme Court guidelines. We have concrete information that many outsiders are camping inside OU hence we have taken some persons into custody for violating prohibitory orders,” Khan said after visiting the OU. The Commissioner denied that para-military forces were deployed inside the University. “Only the local police are inside the campus while additional forces have been deployed outside to prevent untoward incidents,” Khan said. Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and briefed him about the situation in view of the trouble at OU.
On the other hand, the pro-unified state supporters are prevailing upon ministers and elected representatives from Andhra-Rayalaseema regions to leave no stone unturned to prevent bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. In Tirupati, students of Sri Venkateswara University boycotted classes in support of a unified state. Meanwhile, state Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy maintained that resignations were not a solution to any problem. “Resignations will only cause by-elections and not solve the problem. Since it is a coalition government at the Centre, all constituents of UPA have to be consulted before taking a decision on the statehood issue,” he told students’ Joint Action Committee leaders of Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, when they sought his support for a unified state. Raghuveera, however, assured the students that they would fight to keep Andhra Pradesh united.
Students laid siege to the residences of Rural Development Minister D Manikya Varaprasad and Md Ahmadullah in Guntur and Kadapa respectively demanding that they quit their posts in support of a unified state.

Samantha Busy Shedule

Beautiful actress samanta busy with ‘Dookudu’ seems to have lost the big ticket film with hotshot Allu Arjun. Yes, there is a new rumor in media circles about samanta allotting the dates to her old friend Naga Chaitanya instead of Bunny. The actress was in discussions with director Trivikram Srinivas and earlier allotted some dates for his movie with Allu Arjun. She meanwhile got an offer from Deva Katta to be paired opposite Naga Chaitanya in ‘Autonagar Surya’ and she immediately signed on the dotted line cancelling the call sheets of Trivikram.

However, another media source denies any of such strategy saying ‘Nothing of that sort happened and her film with Allu Arjun is still on the cards.’ As Allu Arjun failed to spin the BO with ‘Badrinath’ and Chaitu is having back to back hits ‘Ye Maaye Chesave’ and ‘100% Love,’ may be samanta is thinking of cashing on Chaitu’s glory
